Victim Services Division expands operations with e-counselling service

The Justice Ministry’s Victim Services Division (VSD) has expanded its operations by adding e-counselling to its service offerings, as the need to maintain social distancing increases due to the outbreak of COVID-19.

The Ministry of Justice’s Victim Services Division (VSD) is reminding the public that support is available for child victims who are to appear in Court.
Rev. Osbourne Bailey, Director, VSD gave the reminder during a Virtual Town Hall Meeting on children and the justice system held at the Ministry on Wednesday, July 8.

The Ministry of Justice’s Legal Aid Council (LAC) is providing legal representation for two additional mentally ill detainees who are set to be released in July.
St James Parish Court Undergoing $43M Renovation

The Ministry of Justice is now spearheading renovation work at the St James Parish Court, to the tune of $43 million.
The scope of work includes tiling and painting, as well as plumbing and electrical installations. Additionally, a ramp will be erected to allow for wheelchair access for the elderly and infirm.
