St Ann, Jamaica A comprehensive introduction to administrative work in the tourism industry at age 19 and subsequent years of studies and exposure to other fields allowed Mrs Sanieta Gayle Henry to hone skills and competencies that set her apart from her counterparts and helped her cop the All-Island Administrative Professional Award for 2024.
Henry, assumed the role of an Administrator at the Ministry of Justice’s St Ann Justice Centre six years ago. She is the holder of a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Work from Northern Caribbean University and a Diploma in Arts and Social Sciences from the Brown’s Town Community College.
Her people-centered approach to service helped to distinguish her as an outstanding Administrator.
“What I enjoy most about my role as the Administrator, particularly at the St Ann Justice Centre, is being the first point of contact for our clients. This gives me the opportunity to use my interpersonal and communication skills to assist the clients in a way that will allow them to feel welcome, relaxed and have an open mind that will help them to resolve their conflicts.” Gayle Henry stated.
Navigating the complexities of the modern workplace with grace, efficiency and unwavering dedication, Gayle Henry said she remains driven by the opportunities she has been afforded to serve and make a difference.
“I am always willing to help people. I like the results of helping. I encounter people that have real issues. I learnt very quickly that my fellow Jamaicans are burdened with conflicts that are as a result of a myriad of underlying social issues. As the first person they see, I want them to take comfort in the fact that [the Ministry] will help them.” she added.
It is this commitment to service that influenced the decision to have Gayle Henry receive one of her most noted awards since working in administrative roles.
“This award means a lot to my professional and personal growth. Personally, it has allowed me to gain exposure and experience, being interviewed by prominent television and radio stations, which will forever be etched in my mind. Professionally, it has boosted my confidence in public speaking, something that I have always wanted to do and it will continue to motivate me to build on my skills and motivate others to reach for their goals.”
Attributing her successes to family support, the champion administrator and aspiring Social Worker said she is looking forward to continuing her positive contribution to national development.
“The support that I receive from my family is very integral in helping me reach these milestones. My husband and my 8-year son are my biggest fans. This [my aspiration] will allow me to empower, advocate and support my fellow Jamaican citizens that need help and to help them reach their fullest potential.” she ended.
