MOJ wins TIU Public Sector Debate Competition

Kingston, Jamaica. After winning all five of their matches and hours of preparation, the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) Debate Team came out on top as the 2024 Winners of the Transformation Implementation Unit (TIU) Public Sector Debate Competition at the finals held at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel on Wednesday, August 7, 2024.

 

The hotly contested match between the Administrator-General’s Department (AGD) and the Ministry of Justice ended with a score of 305 – 308, the MoJ etching ahead with just 3 points.

Ms Joanalee Robertson received the best speaker award for the final match. Mr Payton Patterson, recipient of the best speaker award three times during the competition, received the sectional prize of the Most Valuable Debater. He will join the Jamaican delegation which will attend the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

 

The MoJ's Debate Team 2024 comprised the following members; Ms Claudia Powell, Mr Oschain Haynes, Mr Demoye Whiteley, Mr Payton Patterson and Ms Joanalee Robertson.
